Peak Opens Kuala Lumpur Office for SE Asia Customers

Specialist downhole tool provider, Peak Well Systems (“Peak”), has opened its first Malaysian office in Kuala Lumpur, providing a dedicated sales and technical support team for its South East Asian customers.  The new offices are headed by Technical Sales Manager for the region, Irwan Halik, a petroleum engineer who has recently joined the Peak team from ExxonMobil.

The investment in Malaysia will provide a solid foundation for improved customer reach throughout the ASEAN countries, including enhanced support for its sales agents.  Specifically for Malaysian customers, Peak has incorporated a local company, Peak Well Systems (M) Sdn Bhd.  This will allow Peak's Malaysian customers to transact freely with a Malaysian company and improves both customer service and delivery.

Halik joined Peak in October 2011 after spending five years working with ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc (EMEPMI), most recently as a Subsurface Engineer specialising in well interventions.  He graduated with a BSc in Engineering gained from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN (USA).

To begin with, all engineering design and manufacturing expertise will continue to be provided out of the company’s Asia HQ in Perth where the company has grown significantly, especially in the past year.  Peak now employs over 50 people across the regions.

Nigel Avern, Chief Executive of Peak Well Systems, commented: “Our new KL office is a dynamic development for Peak in Asia, and highlights the expanding market share which our products are achieving amongst both Operators and Service Companies."

“Irwan joins Peak at a very exciting time in our global development and we look forward to supporting our clients in the SE Asian region even more effectively.  This appointment further demonstrates Peak as a young company of choice to attract and advance the careers of some of the brightest talent in our industry.  Peak products have been valued in Asia for a number of years now and we believe that with an increased presence and improved customer support, we will be able to provide an even stronger level of service to our customers.”

The opening of the KL office coincides with the market launch of Peak’s new 5” and 5.5” SIM Plug Systems which are ideally suited to wells in the SE Asian region. The SIM Plugs have been successfully deployed for Apache Energy Ltd on the NW Shelf of Australia and Peak has subsequently taken orders from several other operators.
